Part 2/2: Ever wondered what's in store after death?

The following is continuation to the previous post. Sorry for the delay, been going through some hectic and troubled times and haven't been online much lately. Hope you guys benefit from this post. Oh, and please  constantly take care of your health, never take it for granted. Thank Him always for the good health He's given unto you.

Q: If during the barzakh dah mula (begins) punishments and kesenangan (ease/comfort) for the non-righteous and righteous respectively, does this indicate that they've sort of been "pre-judged" even before judgment day comes? If that's the case, during barzakh, this ppl has been determined as a believer/non-believer? Hm, and they still need to go through judgment day later?


A: Before I answer your question… (NOTE THAT PRINCIPLE III & IV IS MOST IMPORTANT TO OUR DISCUSSION, but I would like to walk through all four principles)

A few basic principles about judgement:  

PRINCIPLE I: God is just and you will be judged according to your own deeds

In Islam, the concept of judgement is very simple, clear, and logical. Just like in your exam, you start with a blank answer sheet, you’ve answered (you lived), you’ve submitted your paper (i.e. technically you die, but you will see later how death is not your ‘final answer’), you will be marked only for your own paper (your own deeds). This is what you will expect from a just examiner right? You aren’t going to be asked about Adam’s paper that starts with -100 mark suddenly (original sin in Christianity), or Muhammad, Jesus, your classmate needs to sacrifice himself to give you extra bonus mark or anything like that.

Firstly, the most basic principle is:

God is not unjust to His slaves. 22:10

So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. 99:7

And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. 99:8

That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another, and that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad)  53:39

God burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned 2:286

So the very basic principle is God will judge us justly (If He isn’t just, He isn’t God)  according to our deed, the only thing we worry about is our own deed, not if God screws up, because He won’t.

PRINCIPLE II: No one enters Paradise by his deeds alone

Principle I sounds great, everything is just and straightforward. But.. But.. this world is not objective, human life is complex, it’s not like this one deed = one pahala (reward) for everyone, different circumstances may make one deed harder for a person but easier for another person etc etc. So while God is just, and will never be unjust to His slave, this concept of just is not a mathematical objective scale of marking, but rather a holistic marking that considers all aspects of human life’s complexity and our relationship with Him:

The Prophet (salAllahu `alaihi wa sallam) said: "No one of you will enter Paradise by his deeds alone."

They asked, "Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?"

He said, "Not even me, unless Allah covers me with His Grace and Mercy"

We will judged by all our deeds very justly, but He knows our life is more complex than just good deeds and bad deeds, and He will take that into account. For example in the hadith:

In the narration of Al-Bukhari, the Prophet (PBUH) is reported to have said

"Once a dog was going round the well and was about to die out of thirst. A prostitute of Banu Israel happened to see it. So she took off her leather sock and lowered it into the well. She drew out some water and gave the dog to drink. She was forgiven on account of her action".

It is understood that the prostitute is forgiven and admitted to jannah (not sure if another narration explicitly stated enter jannah). So life is complex, God is merciful, we strive to be the best.

Part 1/2: Ever wondered what's in store after death?

I wish everyone's in the best of health and as for us Muslims, may we always be blessed and in our highest state of Imaan constantly, inshaAllah.


Oh on a side note, just so you know, I do always wish to be able to write more here but yeah, I guess time flies and swoosh by too fast especially this past couple of months. MashaAllah, I am amazed at how one third of 2012 has already gone by!! Wallahi, I'm just in awe.


Anyway, back to the runaway before any crashing takes place **haha, in aviation mood atm. Yup, random much.** Here's sort of a Q & A regarding the topic of what comes after death. *coughs* hmm, sounds pretty intense of a subject chosen to discuss about eh. Haha, oh well.. (Anyhow, the replies are very well written and organised as well as pretty straightforward and simple to comprehend, this is why I would like to share it with others so it can benefit others as well. I'd say it is definitely worth a read albeit it being a tad bit long of a post.)


Part 2

Q: What happens after we die? So judgment day is the same for all, or so I've been told. Then what happens to those who die first? I guess they're waiting? And I heard that this waiting period is something called barzakh? And where are they waiting?


A: The soul is not something in the material world right, it has no spatial location. i.e. the grave, cemetery, crematorium, etc. Js like where r u when u r asleep? Your body is in the bed, but your soul, Allahua’lam, nobody knows.

Firstly I think, consider the fact that we know very little about the soul. Scientifically speaking we have no idea what the soul is, as it is not in the material world. Like we know neurons fire in certain are of the brain and cause you to desire something etc, but we can’t describe fully why we feel everything in its glory, or what is consciousness, or how to bring the dead to life. The soul is beyond us:

“And they ask you concerning the Rûh (the Spirit); Say: "The Rûh (the Spirit): it is one of the things, the knowledge of which is only with my Lord. And of knowledge, you (mankind) have been given only a little." (Qur'an 17:85).

So what we understand a little bit about the soul from revelation is that, after we die, the soul will depart from our physical body. It will be in another realm called barzakh, and hadiths on the description of this waiting time realm (barzakh) can be read here.

When judgement day come, every soul will be ‘raised up’ again or put into a ‘materialistic’ body (again we don’t know the nature of this  body or this new material world existence, it is not the same as our world/universe). Then we will be judged and will find our final abode:

“And because the hour is coming, there is no doubt about it; and because Allah shall raise up those who are in the graves.”Qur'an 22:7

Note that ‘graves’ here is not to be understood literally your grave that you were buried upon, it is a metaphorical expression for putting the soul back into a ‘physical existence’. As another verse below that mentions raising up, but not from the literal grave:

“Till when there comes to one of them the death he says: "My Rabb (Lord), send me back. That I may work righteousness in the things I neglected." Never, it is but a word he says. And beyond them is a Barzakh  until the day when they (all) are raised up." Qur'an 23: 99-100.

“Even so is the quickening (raising the dead)” Qur'an 35:9

And we know scientifically that this universe will collapse and cease to exists someday. As there is big bang, the universe expands, then there will be big crunch where the universe will collapse back into singularity (non-existence, time and space cease to exists). So we know the end of time is inevitable, the universe is not infinite, nor will it exists forever, so whatever we understand in Islam about the end of time is in line with what we observe scientifically. Then judgement day starts, this new universe, reality, the afterlife.

Send me back? He's asking to be sent back into the world so he can rectify his mistakes and perform more goodness that he had used to neglect in life? huh? what?! this isnt referring to reborn right.. Islam doesnt have this concept, no?

I can't believe that due to my hectic schedule lately, I am sort of neglecting my bond with my true love~! Astagfirullahaladzim! ==" Hence, I'm making it a point that I get this done today, by hook or by crook~!! =) Ok, let's jump to it right away before I start babbling on other stuff. Haha. Oh and by the way, please take note that this post is inspired by this writing.

Alright, let ana ask you one question: Have you ever wondered what is it that bridges(connects) one and his happiness? Hah, maybe you haven't and maybe you have, but never probed or delved in it eh? First off, here's another list of questions for you-->

• Have you ever felt so easy and satisfied when you actually spend your money on others, be it strangers, friends, the poor/unfortunates, family, etc. compared to when spending it on yourself? 
• Or feel proud when you managed to get your friend a gift? (considering these days, gifts are no longer popular/a trend, which means "WOW" when someone actually brings along something)
• Or ever felt so engrossed when performing your salahs(prayers), until you're so overwhelmed by His presence to the extend that you can feel Him listening and oh-so-close to you?!!
• Or ever felt like He is directly talking to you when you read the Holy Al Qur'an, till your heart unconsciously feel that stab of excitement? That something which is truly magical that is beyond explanation by mere words?

So, I wanted to write on the importance of Love for Allah but then I realised that I should address the term of definition of Love beforehand so as to make it easier to comprehend what kind of love I am referring to when you read the "Importance of Love for Allah" article, which should be my next post. InshaAllah. Alright, so here goes:

Why don't you learn about her before you cast your stones?

She's my other half, my sidekick on the side.

Where she is, I am not far behind.


And if she's in danger, then my life too is on the line.

And it's not just a crush anymore. I want to learn everything about her,

I love and respect her like I have been taught to love and respect all women, (hope man applies this~!)

So to you is your love, and to me is my religion.

So I stand by her pillars proud, she keeps me grounded.

Reminds me to be humble; through her are all the answers,

Allah Meredhai Hamba2Nya apabila...~~

“Sesungguhnya Allah meredhai hamba2 dalam tiga perkara dan membenci hamba2 juga dalam tiga perkara."

Allah meredhai kalian bila kalian:
(1) Hanya beribadah kepada Allah, (2) tidak mempersekutukan-Nya, (3) Serta berpegang teguh pada tali (agama) Allah seluruhnya, dan janganlah kalian berpecah belah.

Dan Allah membenci kalian bila kalian:
(1) Suka qiila wa qaala (berkata tanpa dasar), (2) Banyak bertanya (yang tidak berfaedah), (3) Menyia-nyiakan harta”

A Guidance to follow~

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.,

So Muhammad as a man had died and left the world, but as a Prophet, his legacy lives on in the form of the Al Qur'an and Sunnah. If people hold fast to them, they will never go astray. The teachings he left for us, if put into practice in their true spirit and proper way, will bring happiness to life in this world as well as in the life to come. In this sense, Islam is a worldly religion that considers first the worldly affairs of humanity, then the Hereafter (Jennah) which is an eternal continuation of the worldly life. Hence, the sensible approach is to follow the way shown to us by Prophet Muhammad whose conduct was the Qur'an; which is a guidance from Allah and for which P. Muhammad  was given authority by God to interpret. That is why Muhammad's conduct was is the most exemplary expression of human conduct!

As for the verse I would like to share today is:

1:5-7 You alone we worship; You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight and right path, the path of those whom You have favoured; not the path of those who earn Your anger nor of those who go astray.

MasyaAllah, I am so impressed with her strong will, perseverance, determination and discipline! I am so touched and can't describe how happy I am for her. One day, one fine day, if I am blessed by Allah to become a mum, may Allah enable me to be as strong and as good as kak Wardina in raising my children the right way. Praise be to Allah for Muslims of her likes! alhamdulillahi lathee bini-matihi tatimmus saalihaat.

Is there a heaven in Islam and how do you get there?

I was browsing the net and suddenly came across this. I'm awed by the way the person answered this question in such detail and in a very promising and convincing manner too! Mabruk to our fellow brother. I enjoyed reading his simple yet fulfilling respond. Hence, I would like to share this with everyone else, Muslim or non-Muslims.. =)

Question: Is there a heaven in Islam and how do you get there?

Yes there is heaven. they're huge and beautiful. to get there the first thing you have to do is to learn what god(Allah) wants you to learn in this life. And that is how to be sincere to Him. Don't say there is another god besides him or that he has offsprings. Don't say something that you do not know. Imagine. God gave us life and knowledge. Why did he not place us straight in heaven? because here we learn things we do not learn in heaven. Sincerity, sadness and loss. Here we find god. Learn the bible, the quran and whatever religious book u can find. Know that you'll find no mistakes in the quran. no false statement. no two sentences that says two different facts about the same matter. Find Him and never let go. Then learn His rules. And follow them. Then hold on tight to all that you've learn. Don't lose them. Then you will go to heaven, Insyaallah(with God's will)
Goodluck!! 

Also continue praying to Allah (SWT) that you want to go to heaven. Allah (SWT) loves our prayers and will take them into consideration. Inshalla (with Allah (SWT)'s will) we shall all go to Paradise.

Someone's Reversion to Islam~! SubhanAllah~!

Ana want to share a story of someone reverting into Islam that ana came across while blog walking. Here's his post (please note those in [...] are ana's annotations.)

"Assalamu Alaikum,

Today's post is about my conversion to Islam, together with a brief history of my life to add a bit more to the post.


I was born into this Dunya in 1977 into a Christian family .. Well a family that lasted all of 4 months. My parents divorced, my dad didn't want me and my mother couldn't cope with looking after me. 

So, my grandparents, also christian, (from my mum's side. They adopted her when she herself was a baby) took me in a raised me .. until the age of 3 when my grandfather passed away and my grandmother was deemed not well enough to look after me.

So, for 3 years I went from one foster home to another, until the age of 6 years old. My dad wanted me back. So, I went to live with my dad, his 2 kids from his new family and his new wife. However, the step-mum didn't like me, the kids (5 and 8) felt I was a threat and it just went downhill. I ended up as a punch bag for my father whenever he had a bad day at work. I also remember (we lived near the seaside) that my dad would take me to a shop and let me choose a bamboo stick with the fishing net at the end. They were really colourful and I always chose blue. Not that I got to use them ... my dad did .. on me .. when we got home he'd remove the fishing net, and then use the bamboo stick on me.

I think my teacher at school knew I was being abused, as she gave me the bible to read with a lovely message (that she'd wrote) at the front. 

That was when I started reading the bible.

During the age of 7 years old, my father dropped me off at a children's home and said he'd pop by now and then to see me. I wasn't sure what was going on, but 2 things came of it. I never saw my father again and I never got beat again.

The next 10 years of my life I spent in this children's home. And I have to say it was quite cool having loads of "Aunt's" looking after me. However, there were a few times when I was still young when I would get beat (in a sense) by some of the staff. I didn't understand at first, it was only when I was in my teens and witnessed it happen to the then youngsters. Some staff members would provoke the children (who were from broken homes, or had ADD), and then spend the next hour restraining them. Yeah, some youngsters needed to be restrained but being there a few years I learnt that some staff would come into work with a chip on their shoulders and target children. There wasn't much that I could do until when I was about 14/15 and thankfully it stopped and for the last few years in the children's home I was like a big brother to all the children at the home and the staff had a lot of respect for me.

All throughout this time I continued to read the Bible [same here], and as I got older I became to understand it better and better .. but, I just didn't feel a connection to it [exactly how ana felt. somehow, ana didn't feel any spiritual connection to God]. I believed in God, but the Bible just ... did not feel right .. there was something missing [ana thought so too]. So, around 15/16 I stopped reading the Bible[ana never stopped. haha..just continued on and on], but I "knew" there was a God, and that we were all created for a purpose, but I believed that it would come to me as I was older... the answer .. that all I needed to do was "wait".

At the age of 17 years old I took social services to Court. Nothing bad, I just wanted my own Independence and sought to be released as their responsibility. At around the same time my grandmother died. At the same time my mother came back on the scene. My grandmother had let her inheritance to me, but my mum wanted it. I didn't want to fight her, so I allowed he to take want she wanted, she disappeared again, and I still had enough to be able to set up renting a place with nice furniture. 

Despite my grades at school not being too good, I ended up in an accountancy firm. One of the Partners took me in as a filing clerk, and I've never left, working my way up.

Anyway, throughout my 20's .. I did exactly what I mentioned above .. I waited .. for the true message from God. But, I did it .. literally .. I kept to myself, got home from work every night and sat in front of the TV... waiting for the message of God to land on my lap. I did that for 8 years.

By the time I was approaching 30 I realised my life was passing before my eyes and that I should go out there and FIND THE TRUTH.

At around the age of 25, a Muslim woman joined the firm. This was my first encounter with a Muslim. I was curious as to why she wore something on her head, but never approached her. It was only when I was 28 and she moved into my team (I was her Supervisor), that we got talking ... about Islam and The Prophet (saw). She lent me some books, but they were more about the spiritual side of Islam and although very nice and comforting, they were out of my league and I didn't really understand. So, I left it. But it kept niggling at the back of my mind. So, one day when we were talking I asked her more about her religion and she talked, with a lot of passion, about Muhammed (saw), and I realised that I was already living my life trying to strive for those values that he himself had lived. So, she gave me a book about his life and Sunnah.

AND BAM! The connection hit me so hard. I cried so hard, this man, who I had never met, was my inspiration. I had spent my entire life dealing with people with evil in their hearts that I'd given up on people, just wanting to keep to myself.

The more I read about The Prophet (saw) the connection got stronger and stronger.

I was given a Quran too but I couldn't read it, and it just ended up on my mantelpiece. However, I met the Sister's 5 brothers and they talked about Islam with me and gave me a translated Quran.

At the age of 30, in February 2008, along with 3 of these brothers, I attended a Mosque and took my Shahadah.

I haven't looked back since, Alhamdullilah Islam is a religion of Peace, and love and mercy [this is how ana feels about Islam too]. I try to take on as many SUnnah's as I can, and Insha'Allah I strive every day to meet The Prophet (saw) in Jannah."

What is Tarbiyyah?~

My previous post is a quote that has the word Tarbiyyah in its structure. Just in case there are some people who are not familiar with this term, here's a pretty clear and brief description of tarbiyyah:

The word "Tarbiyyah" is an Arabic word that linguistically means increase, growth, and loftiness. Conventionally, Tarbiyyah means the development and the training of people in various aspects.

In this context, the word Tarbiyah refers to the systematic development and training of Muslims. It is a continuous and comprehensive process of developing all aspects of the Muslim character/personality, i.e. spiritual, intellectual, moral, social, and physical aspects. The Tarbiyyah process aims to put Muslims on the path of constant self-purification, self-correction and self-development(Tasfiyah), and instill in them the passion for truth, righteousness, and justice. 

It is an approach which traces its origins to the Qur'an and to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (saw), as he invested efforts in the education/training of his companions. As a result of his exertions, he not only left a great message, the message of Islam, but a great generation that carried and spread the message all over the globe - bringing humanity from darkness into His Light. 

It is this quality of people that the Prophet (saw) nurtured that constitute the secret behind the miracle of Islam.


The focus of Tarbiyyah is to groom participants who are distinguished, strive for excellence, have a sense of mission, are self-motivated, conduct a balanced life, live in peace with themselves and their environment, be equipped with the necessary knowledge, understanding, and skills to make a difference in the society by taking an active role - both individually and collectively - in the reform process that seeks to make the betterment of our community, our country, and the entire world.

Path to His Rewards~~

Asslamualaikum w.b.t.,

The post of this title refers to Da'wah (preaching of Islam). Da'wah is a good deed that leads you to Allah's Great Rewards~! which I'm sure all the Muslims are chasing after! =)

"Who is better in speech than one who calls (another) to Allah, works righteousness, and says "I am of those who bow in Islam"?" (41:33)

 Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:

• "whoever guides (another) to a good deed will get a reward similar to the one who performs it." (Muslim)
• "By Allah, if Allah were to guide one man through you, it would be better for you than the best type of camels." (Bukhari and Muslim)

Each and every one of us have the opportunity to use our tongues for da'wah, a beneficial and immensely rewarding experience; so why not do it? If you lack of confidence to spread good words of God by speaking or talking to a crowd, there are many other means of doing it such as writing, sharing links, and by practising what you preach. As the saying goes, "action speaks louder than words". If you live by the holy book, people who hangs around you will see how beautiful you are as a person and who knows, they will follow you and voila, they become a better Muslim too~! =)

SUBHANALLAH ! A MIRACLE IN THE NICK OF TIME~!!

Bisimillahirrahmanirrahim - In the name of Allah, Most Gracious and Most Merciful

Assalamualaikum to the world,

I am just on cloud nine! Yes, even though at this moment in time, I haven't managed to get a wink yet, I am just too grateful and amazed by His Greatness! Just ten minutes ago, I was on the verge of giving up on my computer assignment but at that second that I was going to give in to my tiredness, I found something that was overwhelmingly surprising! It was a similar question I discovered from past semesters sets of assignments. I'm not planning to copy (this is just cheating yourself and not learning anything), but at least, I am able to check my work and see if I did them correctly (cos honestly, the only reason I wanted to stop going on with the question is because my answers seem to be pretty ridiculous! sort of unbelievable and yeah, it looked really wrong, but oh the happiness when I checked and voila, I'm actually on the right track!)

Now, I am motivated again to continue with my assignment!! =) and I just finished praying as well (it's a prayer to thank Him!!! =) I cried of joy!)

Even though my eyes are actually very tired now for having been in front of the laptop screen for more than 10 hours, I am going to keep going at it instead of going to sleep. So, today, I'll have to go by without a single wink! say bye2 to addictive sleeping. I am not giving in to you this time!!! God has shown me some guidance, and I shall make full use of it ! =D

With the Sweetness and Beauty of Iman (Faith), comes.....~~

~NEVER LOSE FAITH~

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim - In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. dear readers, (ana share something that ana's friend shared with me. Credits to Ukhti Siti Hajar) à

Rasulullah saw (pbuh) said.: "Those who possess these three things, it is believed that he will gain the beauty/sweetness of iman(faith). And those 3 things are à

• he loves Allah and His Messenger more than any other beings, 
• he loves a person solely/just because of Allah, 
• he despises to go back to the ways of a disbeliever (sinning) as he strongly hates to be thrown into Hell. " (Hadith Sahih Riwayat Bukhari dan Muslim)

Dear fellow brothers and sisters, let us integrate these 3 things in ourselves in order to successfully achieve the ultimate sweetness of iman within us.

So, why am I so pushy to urge you all to obtain this so-called sweetness? Well, as you can predict what I'm about to say, with this sweetness of iman, we will not complain of exhaustion and worn out in times of preaching.

With the sweetness of faith, we are always accepting (redha) and tawakkal (believe and afraid of Him) with all the tests by Allah. With the sweetness of faith, we are always prepared and on the alert for Islam, our way of life.

At times, we become tired and weak when preaching. Sometimes, we feel that we have done a lot of contribution in Islam, but what we get in return is just fatigue, depression, sadness and the list goes on. On top of that, many a times, those followers do not seem to appreciate what we share. Often, many of our friends do not acknowledge our efforts.

BUT PLEASE BEAR IN MIND, this missionary work is never about others around you. It concerns you and Him~! With the sweetness of iman, only to Allah should we place our full hope on. With the sweetness of iman, we will always be confident and believe in 'the hidden Blessings' that Allah has promised to His believers~~

"Now no person knows what delights of the eye are kept hidden(in reserve) fir them - as a reward for their good deeds" [32:17]

Let us strive and struggle (bermujahadah) in our race towards the sweetness of iman~! Hopefully, our hearts are constantly calm, peaceful and redha in upholding the words of God here on Earth.
