Bismillah.
Whatever fate that befalls human beings only happens through the will and decree of Allah SWT; and whatever befalls a person could not have been avoided, as well as whatever that doesn't happen could not have been made to happen. This brings me to say that a person doesn't really have a choice in this life but to strive towards the right path and to do good deeds such as acts of worshipping Allah. To put it simply, one should put all his trust in Allah SWT by whatever means, submitting to His will, and believing that he is always in need of Allah's continuous help, guidance and support.
As the phrase goes:
"Islam should not revolve around your life, your life should revolve around Islam."
