9th day of Dhul-Hijjah (Yaum Arafat)

P/s: Please take note this was posted a year ago. Re-posting it now as a reminder to all including myself.

Bismillahirrahman- irrahim.

Ana just found out about the goodness of fasting on the 9th day of the month of hajj aka zul hijja/dhul-hijjah. It is mentioned that fasting on this particular day expiates 2 years worth of sins; the previous and the coming year. =) Hence, this fasting is mustahabb (recommended in arabic) for us who are not performing pilgrimage in Makkah; and for those who are on hajj are not encouraged/forbaded to fast on this day because the prophet (peace be upon him) did not practice fasting on the day of Arafat during pilgrimage.

and the following is a copy paste from http://www.islaam.net which ana would like to share with all brothers and sisters -->

The month of Dhul-Hijjah is a season of worship, and seasons of worship bring along blessings, benefits and opportunities to correct one's faith and make up for shortcoming. Every one of these special opportunities involves some kind of worship, which brings the slave closer to his Lord. And Allâh bestows His blessings and Favours on whom He wills. The fortunate person is he who makes good use of these special months, days, and hours, while worshiping Allâh. He is most likely to be touched by the blessings of Allâh. [Ibn Rajab, al-Latâ'if pp. 8]

The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are marked blessed for both, the pilgrims and the non-pilgrims. Rewards of good deeds are multiplied in these days. Imâm Ibn Qayyim (rahimahullah) (d. 751H) said:

“Indeed, its days are the most excellent of all the days with Allâh. It has been confirmed in Sahîh al-Bukharî from Ibn Abbas (radhi Allâhu anhu) that the Messenger of Allâh (sallAllâhu alaihi wa-sallam) said:

“No deed are more virtuous than deeds on these days.”

The companions asked: 'Not even Jihad (fighting in Allâh's Cause)?' He (sallAllâhu alaihi wa-sallam) replied:

“Not even Jihad for the sake of Allâh, unless a man goes out risking himself and his wealth for the sake of Allâh, and does not come back with anything.”

[Sahîh al-Bukharî vol: 2, no: 457]

And it is these ten days, of which Allâh takes an oath saying:

“By the dawn; by the ten nights. [Sûrah al-Fajr (89): 1-2]

This is why it is recommended to increase in making Takbîr, Tahlil and Tamhid during these days.” [Zâd al-Ma'âd vol: 1, pp: 56]

Yaum al-Arafat:

The 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah is the day of Arafat. It is this day when the pilgrims gather on the mountain plain of Arafat, praying and supplicating to their Lord. The day of Arafat holds great importance in Islam since this is the Day when Allâh completed his revelation on His Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh-peace be upon him).

Quotes and AQ Verses (Pick of the week!)

Bismillah.

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. & Greetings to all,

So I've collected some quotes and AQ Verses over the past week and would like to share with those who are interested -->

I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than to live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.
-Albert Camus

If your good deeds delight you and your foul deeds distress you, you are a believer. -Diyya

Allah SWT reminds us that we do not know what is in the hearts of people. It is upon us to convey the message and it is upon Allah SWT to guide the hearts.

To acquire some useful knowledge is of greater merit than to perform a hundred devotional prayers voluntarily. -Ibn Majah

Du'a is the essence of worship. -Prophet Muhammad SAW

How can you despair? Despair is when you are not getting anywhere. Allah SWT has said that He will never let any of our good deeds be lost.

(10:9-10) - Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - their Lord will guide them bcos of their faith. Beneath them rivers flow in the Paradise. Their call therein will be, "Exalted are You, O' Allah," and their greeting therein will be, "Peace." And the last of their call will be, "Praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds!"

(13:28) - Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah SWT; unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.

(30:21) - And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for people who give thought.

(41:30) - Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allah" and then remained on a right course - the angels will descend upon them saying, "Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised.

What's YOUR nightly routine?

Bismillah.

Assalam & Greetings!

Do YOU have a nightly routine before going to sleep? If you still haven't come up with one or started practising any, here's a very feasible suggestion~! It takes at most 10 minutes to do it. (and I testify this bit of information. Also, this goes to say that it is very very practical even for overly intense busy students or working people, inshaAllah~!)

Please refer to footnotes for those with asterisks *

And here's the magic recipe:

al ikhlas
al falaq
an nas
ayat kursi (*)
last 10 verses of ali imran (3rd surah)
and then subhanAllah 33x, alhamdulillah 33x, & Allahu akbar 34x

GREAT OPTIONAL ADD-ONS:
- last 2 verses of Surah Al-Baqarah i.e. 285 and 286 (**)
- recite al- ikhlas 10 times in the morning and evening (***)

P/s: For those who think this is too much or sort of overwhelming, I guess just reciting the last 2 verses of 2nd Surah suffice since that is what's mentioned. See (**). (But try this out before concluding it's difficult. Hmm, if it makes you feel any better; I can do it, so trust me, everyone else can too, iA.)

WAllahua'lam.

subhanAllah, looks amazingly beautiful~! =)

(*) Al-Baqarah verse 255. Whoever reads this when he lies down to sleep will have a guardian from Allah remain w him and Satan will not be able to come near him until he rises in the morn. (Al-Bukhari)
(**) These 2 verses will be sufficient for anyone who recites them at night before sleeping. (Al-Bukhari)
(***) The Prophet (SAW) said: Who recites blessings upon me 10x in the morn and 10x in the evening will obtain my intercession on the Day of Resurrection. (At-Tabarani)

Marking its 2nd Year

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim - in the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. & Greetings,

It's now officially the end of ana's 2nd year as an amatullah (servant of Allah). To be honest, my reaction this time is truly different from the way I felt when I hit the end of my 1st year. (Year 1) I guess back then I was more naive and carefree (maybe cos I knew much less then.)

I am not AS enthusiastic or excited in the same way. It's not because I'm feeling or growing tired of being a Muslim. No, certainly not. I am still very much into Islam and this faith as I was when I first said my syahadah. In fact, my desire to perform my duties and obligations as a Muslimah has intensified by a great degree this year.

I am pretty sure it is due to this that I am not ecstatic about today. Those who would understand or empathise me are only those who are or have been in the same boat as me. This is why entering my 3rd year doesn't seem to appeal very much to me as it doesn't bring about any changes to the fact that I am still not able to perform many of my obligations. I live in lie every single day, and I wonder if my days are blessed. (Hidup ana bisa berkat ke, kalau hari2 hidup dalam penipuan? Astaghfirulla.. astaghfirulla.. astaghfirulla al adzim.) Thinking about this always bring me to tears. Last week, it almost broke me. After watching a video, it hit me so hard, I felt I am the most sinful being alive, which led me to the ultimate woe and probably could bring home the Guinness World Records for the extreme wail of the century <-- And no, I am not exaggerating here. Trust me. I couldn't believe myself for being capable of that. *shakes head* (Hence, I would like to express my utmost sincere appreciation to Farah Hani and Wahida Wahab for being my victims on Thanksgiving Day. Without picking up my calls, I might have done something utterly stupid, but the only other thing that stopped me is cos of the realisation that if I were to die, it means I took my own life and that means hell (Jahanam) for me. astaghfirulla. I am not willing. No.)

I guess I am welcoming my 3rd year in a different approach altogether
--> HAVING TO LEARN TO ACCEPT LIVING IN PASRAH.

YOU can call people to Islam. Yes, YOU ! (directed to Muslim readers, as for non-Muslims: I come in peace=))

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim - in the name of Allah, Most Gracious, most Merciful.

Salam alaik & Greetings to all,

Sometimes we tend to be afraid to do some things as we believe that we do not have the qualifications or the ability and sufficient knowledge to do so. However, you need to stop doubting and start believing more. Believe in yourself and in Allah as those who are sincere in their attempt of calling people back to Allah, inshaAllah, the Lord will be with you. He will guide and help you in your effort of spreading His Words. Remember, He is always with the doers of good.

(Al-Ankabut, 29:69) - And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.

(An-Nahl, 16:125) - Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.

It is not essential to know the entire religion to call people to Islam: But the one who takes on the mission of calling people to Islam has to have knowledge and insight into what he is calling them to. It is not essential for him to know the entire religion. Explaining this issue, Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said:

If a person has proper understanding what he is calling people to, it makes no difference whether he is a great scholar or a seeker of knowledge who is a hard worker, or an ordinary Muslim whose knowledge of a particular issue is clear and certain. The Messenger (pbuh) said: “Convey from me, even if it is a verse.” He did not stipulate that the daa‘iyah (one who calls people to Allah) should have vast knowledge; rather he stipulated that he should have knowledge of what he is calling people to. As for the one who is ignorant and calls people on the basis of emotion, that is not permissible.

Allah (SWT) reminds us that we do not know what is in the hearts of people. It is upon us to convey the message and it is upon Allah (SWT) to guide the hearts.

WAllahua'lam.

Bismillah.

You can't always have happiness, but you can always give happiness~

Beware of this world, for it is sweet and tempting -Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

Do not dispute with anyone in any matter as far as possible. For in argumentation lies much harm and its evil is greater than its benefit. -Imam al-Ghazali

Hook up with Allah, Allah will hook you up~!

Bismillah.

Assalamualaikum & Greetings to all !

Take a sneek peek -->

"What is hooking up with a brother or sister on gchat or facebook worth in comparison to hooking up with the One who can hook you up?

As Shaykh Muhammad Faqih once said, "Hook up with Allah, Allah will hook you up!"

Let's hook up with salah! Hook up with the Qur'an! Hook up with community work for Allah's Sake! And have certainty that when we struggle to please Allah (SWT), Ash-Shakoor is the Most Appreciative of our work and will undoubtedly reward us.

Will that reward be in the form of an amazing spouse and an amazing marriage? Allah knows best. But the best part is that Allah knows what is BEST for us and that His Bounties are limitless!"

Cry to sleep? X !!

Bismillah.

An advice:
Never cry yourself to sleep or let yourself sleep right after some crying. Trust me, the aftermath ain't good at all. The next day, your eyes will feel horrible, painful and sort of "tired" the entire time! Oh man.
