The definition of Love~

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim - in the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. and greetings to dear readers,

Alhamdulillah(all praise to Allah) for the health He has given unto me and all of you. May we all be in our highest state of Iman at all times.

So, I wanted to write on the importance of Love for Allah but then I realised that I should address the term of definition of Love beforehand so as to make it easier to comprehend what kind of love I am referring to when you read the "Importance of Love for Allah" article, which should be my next post. InshaAllah. Alright, so here goes:

According to Hadrat Shibli*(rah), "Muhabbah(love) is called muhabbah because it erases everything from the heart except the Beloved."

The renowned Ustaz Abdul Qasim Qushayri(rah) said,

The lovers of Allah have taken the honor of this world and the honor of the Hereafter because the blessed Prophet(pbuh) mentioned, "A man will be with whom He loves."

Muhabbah is the name of a condition of the heart where the lover is restless to meet Allah SWT. May we achieve this muhabbah. InshaAllah.

Firman Allah (words of God):
(20:1-2) - We did not send unto you[O' blessed Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)] the Holy Al Qur'an to cause you difficulty.

Upon hearing the recitation of the following, Imam Ghazali(rah) fell unconscious:

the snake of love has stung my heart,
there is no doctor or charmer to cure it
except the Beloved who fills my heart,
with Him lies my cure and charm.

A doctor was then called, and upon checking and examination of his pulse and condition, he declared that this man was suffering from the sickness of muhabbah. SubhanAllah.

*(rah) = may the mercy of Allah be upon him, and is normally mentioned after a religious figure.

WAllahua'lam.
